This course is ideal for anyone who has a hobby interest or is interested in building more professional skills in video production. If you've been looking at buying a camera to film with, or have a camera set on automatic and want to know what the main setting adjustments do, this is for you.

- Understanding the basic video camera settings
- Planning and preparing for shooting
- Safety considerations
- Working with a small crew
- Recording quality vision and sound
- Understanding shot sizes and basic framing
- Using the camera for storytelling
- Understanding basic natural and artificial Lighting
- Use of standard video tripods
- Camera, crew, talent and filming basic terminology

This course provides the foundation skills for video recording, forming a strong basis for the Digital Video Editing or Advanced Digital Video Production short courses.

At the end of each course participants will take away a copy of their work.

All equipment is supplied where we focus on the operation of a standard video camera.

Dress code: casual with closed footwear.

Bring: 16GB USB stick (or bigger) to take filmed work home.
