Administer and Monitor Medicines and Intravenous Therapy (Gap Training)

Description

This is a 6-week course designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to administer and monitor medications and intravenous (IV) therapy while recognising your prior and current skills and knowledge.

The course comprises online theory, a compulsory practical workshop and completion of evidence in your place of work.

Practical workshop: Attendance of approximately 4-6 hours is an compulsory , where you will demonstrate competence in the following:

- IV therapy administration
- IV bolus injection
- And Blood transfusion administration

You will need to provide evidence post the practical workshop of
- X 3 intravenous signoffs in the workplace
- A current Workplace medication update (medication calculations)
- Third-party performance evidence of medication administration; consisting of oral, and subcutaneous
Once successfully completed you will receive an academic statement with HLTENN040 Administer and monitor medicines and intravenous therapy.

  • To undertake this course, the applicant must:
    - hold current registration with AHPRA as an Enrolled Nurse
    - be currently working as an Enrolled Nurse
    - be currently administering IM/SC and oral medications in their workplace
    - be able to administer IV fluid/peripheral IV injections in their workplace under supervision

Short Course Delivery Locations Some short courses can provide accreditation for industry-specific registration, while others merely provide skills and knowledge in the subject area. Concession prices are available for some courses.
