Learning and education is the corner stone of our organisation. TAFE SA’s childcare centres are passionate and committed to instil a life-long love of exploration and discovery in your child!
Our guiding principles are to build trust, enrich diversity, share knowledge, enhance resilience, and develop emotional intelligence and to lead by the heart as we walk the path of early childhood with children and their families.
The centres are available for use by TAFE SA students, staff and the wider community.
Our care and education model is second to none as we place your child’s wellbeing and learning as our top priority, and we continually engage with research and reflective practice.
That means you can be confident your child is in good hands when you drop them off and that they’ll spend their day developing social skills, a sense of individuality and independence while discovering new interests and making new friends. No doubt you’ll hear all about their adventures when you pick them up!
Questions are part of the process – especially about fees and subsidies – and we are here to help. All TAFE SA childcare centres are approved childcare centres registered for the Childcare Subsidy.
You can use our enquiry form to get in touch or give one of our childcare centres a call.
We look forward to getting to know your family!
Research confirms ‘while genetics create the basic architecture of your child's brain, experiences and environment can have a huge influence on its development’. The early years can unleash a lifetime of potential. At TAFE SA child care centres we establish and maintain an environment in which children feel safe and supported to learn through exploration and play.
Quality care and education underpin the healthy development of children’s social and emotional wellbeing, as well as communication skills. It also plays a vital role in helping the family unit to flourish as we reflect the cultural and economic diversity of the communities we serve. We are proud to provide flexible arrangements to accommodate work, study and family commitments.
At TAFE SA childcare centres every child is treated with respect. We embrace Belonging, Being and Becoming - The Early Years Learning Framework, which provides the principles, practices and outcomes that support and enhance learning from birth to school age. The framework is a key component of the National Quality Framework for early childhood education and care, which forms the backbone of each of our centres.
Policies are developed using the input and expertise from Curriculum Coordinators, staff, educators and families. These are reviewed every two years or on a needs basis. In the event of a change to a Legislative Act or Regulation, the policy will be updated. We encourage families and team members to provide continuous feedback.
TAFE SA is committed to a safe physical and online environment where the protection and wellbeing of children and young people is achieved through safe practices. We will provide and promote safe and nurturing environments for children and young people that will reduce the risk of harm to them.
TAFE SA has a documented Safe Environments for Children, Young and Vulnerable People Policy, which aims to ensure that the TAFE SA community is aware of the legislative requirements pertaining to child safety and the associated duty of care to provide for the protection, safety and wellbeing of children and young people always. There are a number of TAFE SA policies, procedures and guidelines that also exist which specifically relate to children, students, respectful behaviour and appropriate conduct. These policies should be read in conjunction with the policies of the Childcare Network.
Our centres are allergy aware! Action plans are required for allergies - can be requested from the centre, are to be completed by doctor and supplied to the childcare along with the labelled medication (if applicable) for child to attend.
Unlike many centres in South Australia, TAFE SA childcare centres do not charge for centre closures (Christmas and new year period) and public holidays. This saves families between two to three weeks fees per year on average.
In July 2018, the Federal Government introduced a new Childcare Subsidy (CSS) to replace the Childcare Benefit and the Childcare Rebate. The new subsidy considers the following:
We recommend that you apply for CCS prior to commencing care at our centre. This will ensure you receive your entitlement from the day you start.
Fees are charged for all days your child is booked into care including sick days and annual leave (holidays).
Vacancies vary throughout the year and you are encouraged to enrol your child early, especially for New Year placements.
On completion of the bookings and or care for your child/children or request to withdraw from care the account will be finalised and the refund will be credited to their nominated account.
