Dental hygiene treatment and services

Located at the TAFE SA Gilles Plains campus, the TAFE SA Dental Clinic provides an opportunity for patients to receive treatment from students under the strict supervision of qualified dental practitioners. Students refine their clinical skills and provide comprehensive dental hygiene treatment and services.

  • Why choose the TAFE SA Dental Clinic?

    • No cost services: Enjoy no-cost dental hygiene treatments and services provided by our dedicated students.
    • Professional supervision: All treatments provided by students are overseen by experienced Dentists, Dental Hygienists, and Oral Health Therapists.
    • Preventative focus: The services provided focus on the prevention of oral diseases and the health of supporting tissues (gums). Note that permanent fillings, root canal treatments, and denture work are not performed at the TAFE SA Dental Clinic.
  • What to expect

    • Thorough care: Expect detailed oral examinations, scaling, teeth cleaning, oral hygiene instruction, and other preventative services, which may include clinical photographs and X-rays. A thorough examination is required before treatment begins. This can take between 1 and 3 visits depending on the complexity of your needs.
    • Multiple visits: The examination and treatment processes are very detailed, and students are expected to perform at a high standard. Patients may need to attend 6 or more appointments to enable the required standard to be achieved.
    • Regular appointments: Attendance is important for maintaining the quality of care and for students to have the opportunity to complete treatments.
    • Patience is appreciated: While we strive to see patients on time, occasional delays may occur. Your understanding is appreciated.
    • Educational use of records: De-identified patient dental charts and photographs may be used for teaching purposes.
    • Appointment reminders: Patients will receive SMS reminders and phone calls regarding their appointments.
  • Quality Assurance

The TAFE SA Dental Clinic is accredited against the Primary and Community Healthcare Standards. Accreditation against these standards reassures patients and consumers that dental practices are adhering to industry regulations and guidelines, and they are committed to quality improvement, patient safety and quality care.
