Entry Recommendations
This is recommended as an entry level course for those interested in the event industry. You will need to have some skills in Office 365 and computing.

Attendance Requirements (subject to change)
This course is delivered through a blend of on-campus and online classes with most classes face to face. You will need to attend online and on-campus classes to successfully complete this course. All face to face classes are at Regency campus. Full time students will have on-campus classes 4 days a week from 9.00 to 3.30pm and can complete the course in 6 months. Part time students will have on-campus classes 2 days a week from 9.00 to 3.30pm and can complete this course in 12 months. You are required to volunteer for events and go to industry excursions which may be linked to assessments and unit completion.

Industry Conditions and Skills
We recommend you have good communication, interpersonal and numeracy skills. A focus on customer service and the ability to work with people from all backgrounds is needed.

Vocational Placements
There is no compulsory vocational placement. You will be required to volunteer for events to successfully complete some units of competency.

  • Employment Outcomes

    The diversity of employers includes event or exhibition management companies, event venues, or organisations that organise their own events. Work could be undertaken in an office environment where the planning of events takes place, on-site at venues where events are staged or a combination of both. Possible job titles may include conference assistant, event or exhibition administrative assistant, event or exhibition assistant, event or exhibition operations assistant, functions assistant, in-house meetings assistant, junior event or exhibition coordinator, logistics assistant, meetings assistant and venue assistant.

    Events are diverse in nature and this qualification provides a pathway to work for event or exhibition organisations operating in a range of industries including the tourism and travel, hospitality, sport, cultural and community sectors. Skills covered include working effectively with others, source and using information on the events industry, registrations, customer service, cultural sensitivity and workplace safety. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 6 core units and 7 elective units.

    Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
