Entry Recommendations
We recommend that those with limited knowledge in this area complete the Certificate II Pathway to Health Studies.

Attendance Requirements (subject to change)
Face to face and online classes. Full time is 4 to 5 days a week. Part time is 2 to 3 days a week.

Industry Conditions and Skills
You must be able to meet the physical demands of this course including manual handling. You should have an interest in working with people, good communication, collaboration and teamwork skills; basic computer skills and multitasking ability.

Vocational Placements
You will need to complete a vocational placement in an aged care facility for a minimum of 120 hours. If you are not currently employed in a residential aged care facility, you will be placed by TAFE SA's Placement unit. To make sure that you are able to be placed, you will need to provide the required clearances, checks and certificates by the date advised.

Mandatory Requirements
You will require a current National Police check and Working with Children check, and if necessary complete a Manual Tasks and CPR refresher course before vocational placement. If you do not have these checks or certificates you may not be able to undertake vocational placement. Aged care facilities may have their own policies on vaccination requirements. You may need to show evidence of vaccination before starting your vocational placement.

Fee Free TAFE and vocational education is a joint initiative of the Australian and South Australian Governments providing tuition-free training places to students wanting to train, retrain or upskill. Eligibility verification will take place before the enrolment process and may include participation in a Language, Literacy and Numeracy pre-assessment. The number of Fee Free TAFE places that are funded is limited by the terms of the skills agreement signed by the Australian and South Australian Governments.
