If you’re keen to work in cabinet making, this is the apprenticeship course for you. Gain the essential skills you need to work as a qualified cabinet maker with the opportunity for future specialised study. Cabinet makers typically work on projects such as kitchen fit-outs, bathroom vanities, bookcases, and entertainment units. You will get the hands-on skills and knowledge to work at trade level in the cabinet and furniture making industries, including the manufacture and installation of fitted furniture.     Employment Outcomes

    This qualification describes the trade level outcomes for those working in furniture making and those involved in the manufacture and installation of fitted furniture typically in a kitchen, bathroom and related context. Installation skills may be applied to new or renovation work. The work is in a defined range of skilled operations, usually within a range of broader related activities involving known routines, methods and procedures, where some discretion and judgement is required in the selection of equipment, services or contingency measures and within known time constraints.

    Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

    This course covers communication, teamwork, power tools, measurements, calculations and work documents. To complete the qualification, you are required to complete all 8 core units plus 17 electives.
