WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits

Description

The WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits covers the main categories of spirits and liqueurs and examines the influences of production methods on the different styles available in each category.

Throughout the course, you’ll develop analytical tasting skills while exploring the use of spirits in cocktails.

The course will cover:
- Spirits production methods and how they affect style and quality
- The characteristics of the main styles of spirits and liqueurs
- The major global spirits brands
- Tutored tastings of spirits and liqueurs (classroom courses only)
- How to taste and describe spirits using WSET Level 2 Spirits Systematic Approach to Tasting

Throughout the course you’ll become a more confident spirits taster under the guidance of our expert educators, learning how to use a globally recognised approach to tasting to analyse the appearance, nose, palate and quality level of a range of styles.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to identify how key raw ingredients and production methods influence the style and quality of the key spirits and liqueurs of the world. If you work with spirits, you'll be able to confidently provide guidance on the use and service of spirits and make informed recommendations to customers when selecting spirits and liqueurs to meet their taste and price requirements.

  • There are no entry requirements for this course however participants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Online: Private study commitment of at least 3 hours per week. Spirits not included. We recommend you taste a minimum of eight spirits for guidance on what styles to taste.
    Includes: Access to WSET's Online Classroom, a dedicated online tutor, and your examination.

    Technology requirements: We recommend that you use a laptop or desktop device and have a reliable internet connection. To sit your examination online you will also need one additional smart device such as a smartphone or tablet.

    There will be additional charges incurred for exam resits at a cost of $210.

    All classes are delivered in English, and the assessment requires your answers to be hand-written, therefore a good level of written and spoken English is very beneficial.


    You must be at least 18 years old to enrol on any of our courses.

Short Course Delivery Locations Some short courses can provide accreditation for industry-specific registration, while others merely provide skills and knowledge in the subject area. Concession prices are available for some courses.
