SSDIS01008 - Introduction to Construction Skill Set

Description

If you're looking to reskill, start a career in the construction industry, or are a young person—especially a recent school leaver—this course is an excellent entry point into the building and construction field. It equips you with foundational safety skills for wet trades, plumbing, carpentry, and joinery.

This skill set offers a practical introduction to construction, covering essential topics like working safely on-site (White Card) and working safely at heights. You'll also develop basic hand and carpentry skills through a practical activity like constructing a timber deck.

By completing this course, you'll gain valuable employability skills and have the opportunity to explore the industry further, helping you decide on the next steps for your education or career.

  • Completion of the Training Account Consent Form - you are required to upload a completed form at the time of enrolment. You can download a copy of the form under the Files & Resources tab below.
  • Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry (CPCCOM1012)

    Undertake a basic construction project (CPCCVE1011)

    Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry (CPCCWHS2001)

    Work safely at heights (CPCCCM2012)

    Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (CPCWHS1001)

    Use construction tools and equipment (CPCCCM2005)

  • For safety reasons, you are required to wear safety boots, safety glasses, and appropriate workwear.

Short Course Delivery Locations Some short courses can provide accreditation for industry-specific registration, while others merely provide skills and knowledge in the subject area. Concession prices are available for some courses.
