Provide First Aid

Description

This comprehensive first aid course is appropriate for everyday emergency situations. The course is suitable for a senior first aider or person looking to increase their skills and knowledge including but not limited to the following areas:
• Responding to an emergency in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines
• DRSABCD action plan and emergency response
• Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an adult and infant
• Use of AED (defibrillator)
• Managing an unconscious patient
• Treating burns, wounds and bleeding
• Assist a person who is choking
• Handling medical emergencies including chest pain, asthma, anaphylaxis
• Reacting appropriately to someone who is in shock
• Treating fractures, sprains, strains, head, neck and spinal injuries
• Legal, workplace and community considerations
• Communication and reporting of incidents

Students are trained by Paramedics and other health professionals with extensive industry experience, providing authentic learning opportunities for dealing with emergency situations.

On successful completion of the course, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in:
• HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

First aid qualifications are recommended for renewal every three years as per the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice. Details can be found here https://resus.org.au/the-arc-guidelines/
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation should be renewed every 12 months.

  • Whilst there are no formal pre-requisites for this course, participants must be 14 years of age or older and have a basic level of literacy and numeracy. During your first aid training you will be required to work at a range of heights levels, and to roll onto your back, side and/or stomach. You are required to kneel and demonstrate at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the floor as per the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
  • Provide First Aid (HLTAID011)

  • An online e-book will be made available to you upon enrolment for pre-reading before your course. A link to this resource will be provided in your confirmation email.

Short Course Delivery Locations Some short courses can provide accreditation for industry-specific registration, while others merely provide skills and knowledge in the subject area. Concession prices are available for some courses.
